Female Support Workers (Complex Needs)
Job No:
MCSTMBAComplex
Location:
Toowoomba
If you’re the kind of person who shows up on the hard days, not just the good ones — we’d love to hear from you.
At Magenta, we provide support that’s built on trust, relationships and real understanding of what people with complex needs need most. We’re here to offer real, meaningful work with people who matter — people with disabilities who live with complexity, and who deserve consistent, high-quality, respectful support.
We’ve been around since 2013, with a strong focus on being flexible, person-centred, and genuinely connected to our participants. We’re proud to be a bit different — our people aren’t just ticking boxes. They’re forming real relationships, adapting support to individual needs, and working with purpose.
We’re now looking for experienced female Support Workers to join our Southern Queensland team in Toowoomba to support participants with high and complex care needs. These roles are casual, across a 24/7 roster, and shifts will include sleepovers, active nights, and day support. All shifts are 2:1, meaning you’ll always have a team member alongside you.
What makes this role different?
This isn’t an entry-level role. The people we support have high support needs, and we’re honest about the challenges — the role involves supporting people with:
- Seizure management, medication administration, and oxygen therapy
- Personal and continence care, including bowel management
- Behaviour support, working under Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP) and using restrictive practices when required
- Manual handling, including hoisting and mealtime support
You’ll be well trained, well supported, and never left to figure it out on your own — but this work takes resilience, emotional maturity, and a calm, clear-headed approach under pressure.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for people who get it. If you’ve worked in complex support before, you’ll know this isn’t just about tasks — it’s about building trust, being consistent, and showing up in a way that respects the person, even on the harder days.
You’ll bring:
- A Cert III (or higher) in Individualised Support, Disability, Aged Care or similar
- At least 3 years’ experience in disability support, with experience in complex or high-needs settings
- A trauma-informed approach and understanding of restrictive practices
- Confidence in providing personal care, behavioural support, and medication assistance
- The ability to stay calm, communicate clearly, and work as part of a strong, values-led team
Extra points if you’ve worked with young people or have experience with epilepsy, bowel care, oxygen therapy or PBSP implementation — but if you haven’t, and you’re eager to learn, we’ll train you.
What else you’ll need
Essential:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- National Police Check (within 12 months)
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Your own car with comprehensive insurance
- COVID-19 Vaccination (as per QLD Health requirements)
Optional:
Training in MAYBO or TCI is an advantage — but don’t worry if you don’t have it yet, we’ll provide it to the right people.
