The Role

We’re seeking experienced Support Workers in Toowoomba to support two female participants with highly complex behaviours and significant support needs, delivered through a 2:1 support model.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Deliver hands-on, person-centred care including all aspects of daily living (personal hygiene, meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, domestic tasks).
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, lifting, positioning, and use of mobility aids.
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans, restrictive practice protocols (environmental & physical), and apply de-escalation strategies as needed.
  • Provide non-verbal communication supports (e.g., key word signing), behaviour cue-reading, and proactive support.
  • Support participants to access the community including social, recreational, and medical activities.
  • Assist with skill development to build independence, confidence, and decision-making.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following risk assessments, safety protocols, and working collaboratively with allied health and families.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including completing documentation, handovers, and contributing to care planning.
  • Be flexible across a range of shifts, including active shifts, sleepovers, evenings, and weekends.

Important Availability Requirement

This role requires reliable availability for both sleepover and active shifts.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Proven experience supporting people with complex behaviours or high support needs.
  • Confidence implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and restrictive practice protocols.
  • Ability to read and respond to behavioural cues and support non-verbal communication.

Current:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • COVID-19 Vaccination

Desirable / Highly Regarded:

  • Certificate III (or higher) in Individual Support / Disability / Community Services or related field
  • MAYBO training
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification
  • Experience with behaviour de-escalation, restrictive practices, or injury prevention
