About the role
We are looking for an empathetic, experienced and professional Support Worker to join our Gladstone Team. You will provide heartfelt care and support to our participants with complex and high support needs and play a pivotal role in assisting them to achieve their goals. In addition to making a difference in the lives of people with a disability you will be a part of a values-aligned and high performing team.
As an experienced Support Worker you know that every day will look a little different in this challenging but rewarding role but you can expect to have responsibility for the following key areas:
- Service Delivery – Provide person-centred and flexible support to people living with a disability by understanding their goals and working collaboratively with them, and their broader support network, to achieve these goals.
- Compliance and Risk Management – Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our people by delivering services and supports in line with WHS and other regulatory requirements.
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement – Participate in key stakeholder meetings and engage with relevant stakeholders to ensure our participants needs are at the heart of all we do.
- Documentation and Reporting – Keep detailed and accurate records and documentation to ensure a coordinated and best practice approach to client care.
- Strategic Projects – We have recently launched our 3-year strategic plan and our team members will have the opportunity to contribute to projects and other initiatives that support this plan.
Please note that you will receive level 3.1 renumeration once all necessary training is completed!
About you
To be successful in this role you will be passionate about providing individualised and flexible support to people of all abilities and backgrounds. You will have significant experience working with people who have high support needs including people who experience seizures, communicate non-verbally, have a history of trauma, require personal care support, assistance with medication and have Positive Behaviour Support plans in place. You will have a love of learning and the ability to remain calm under pressure. We call this being “a professional with heart”.
Essential Requirements include:
- Minimum Certificate III in Individualised Support or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with people with disabilities, with some experience supporting people with complex or high support needs.
- Experience working with young people will be highly regarded
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support Plans and Restrictive Practices.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check;
- Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card);
- COVID-19 Vaccine as per QLD Health directive
- National Police Check (issued within the last 12 months)
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Current Australian Driver’s License
- Own vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
- Training in TCI and MAYBO will be highly regarded
